The National Framework was endorsed by Australian Governments in 2001 to commit State, Territory and Commonwealth industry development policies to the following principles: full, fair and reasonable opportunity, free of interstate preferences, regional development, competitive neutrality, value for money, transparency of process, policy consistency and consistency with Australia’s international obligations.

WA Local Industry Participation Framework

In response to changes in global market conditions, the State Government revised its approach to local industry participation and developed a framework to address new challenges and opportunities for local suppliers.

The Western Australian Government’s Local Industry Participation Framework seeks to improve channels of communication with both suppliers and project proponents to ensure that benefits flowing from mineral and energy major projects to the Western Australian economy and community are maximised.
