The Building Local Industry Policy seeks to ensure that competitive local industry receives full, fair and reasonable opportunity to participate in the State’s major private sector projects.
The main policy instrument in private sector projects is the requirement for project proponents to develop an Industry Participation Plan (IPP). An IPP is an outline of how the project proponent will support the principle of full, fair and reasonable opportunity and give ample consideration to the project’s local economic impact.
To support the Policy’s administration, a suggested template has been prepared. Project proponents can modify this template, but must address all relevant headings.
The WA Government requires that project proponents report on contracting outcomes. These reports are required every six months and at practical completion, unless agreed otherwise.
Project proponents wishing to discuss whether an Industry Participation Plan is required for their project should contact the Manager Industry Participation on 9222 0779. Building Local Industry Policy View and download the Policy (PDF format) and the Addendum to the Policy (PDF format).
