Local Capability Fund
Four new rounds of the Local Capability Fund (LCF) have opened for 2019-20: METRONET Railcar Procurement, Aboriginal Business, the Future Battery Industry and the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS).
The purpose of the LCF is to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Western Australia to increase their capability and competitiveness as suppliers of products, services and works to the Western Australian State Government, major projects and other important markets.
The LCF typically provides funding assistance on a dollar for dollar basis for activities such as planning, improvements to internal infrastructure, plant and equipment and training.
The METRONET Railcar Procurement Round aims to assist small to medium sized local businesses seeking to get involved as part of the METRONET railcar procurement initiative.
The Future Battery Industry Round aims to provide Western Australian small to medium-sized businesses with the best opportunity to participate as suppliers of products and services related to downstream activities in the lithium-ion battery industry.
The Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS) Round aims to provide small to medium-sized local businesses with the best opportunity to access and win State and Local Government supply contracts.
The Aboriginal Business Round provides funding to Western Australian Aboriginal businesses to help them be better prepared to participate as suppliers of products, services and works to public and private sector markets.
The LCF also continues to provide ongoing support to the steel industry sector through the Steel Industry AS/NZS 5131 Compliance round and the Steel Industry Business Information Services round.
