Singapore is Australia’s eighth largest source of foreign direct investment (A$36.1 billion in 2019) and is the fifth largest destination for Australia’s direct investment abroad (A$28.1 billion in 2019).
In 2019, Western Australia had 107,100 visitors and 1,468 students from Singapore. Singapore is Western Australia’s second largest market for international visitors. For Western Australian tourists, Singapore is the fifth most popular overseas destination, with 55,000 Western Australians visiting Singapore in 2018.
Western Australia has a growing Singaporean community. In 2016, 2,500 Western Australian residents had Singaporean ancestry and 15,000 were born in Singapore.
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation supports Western Australia’s investment and trade with Singapore through its Singapore Office, which was established in 2012.
