Global Offices – Japan – November 2018

The Government of Western Australia’s Japan Office in Tokyo has been supporting Western Australian businesses for over 50 years.

Western Australia accounts for 34 per cent of Australia’s total trade with Japan, and there is significant Japanese investment in agricultural processing, plantation and tourism projects in the State.

There are trade opportunities for Western Australian companies in a number of sectors, including mineral, agricultural, manufacturing and service sectors, and in the areas of emerging technologies and innovations.

For exporters, the Government of Western Australia provides assistance in finding markets for their products and services in Japan. The key focus is assisting Small to Medium Business Enterprises (SMEs) overcome hurdles to enter the market, by applying extensive local knowledge and expertise to support new market entrants.

Western Australia also maintains close economic and cultural links with the Hyogo Prefectural Government, the Sister State of Western Australia for over 36 years, as well as the Kansai Region in general.

The Government of Western Australia’s Japan Office helps Western Australian companies to access trade and investment opportunities in Japan.
