The Government of Western Australia’s China Office in Shanghai has been supporting Western Australian businesses since 1996.
China is Western Australia’s biggest trading partner. More than half of the iron ore imported into China is from Western Australia. With China’s growing middle class and stable economic growth, it offers trade and investment opportunities across a wide range of sectors including resources and energy, agri-food, education and vocational training, tourism, health and life science, and technology and innovation. With the increasing demand for lithium batteries, clean energy, aged care services, and high quality agri-food products, there are significant opportunities for Western Australian companies.
Western Australia and Zhejiang Province have been Sister-States since 1987. Significant areas of focus include trade, investment, education and tourism. Recently, this has expanded to include a specific focus on health and aged care, and sport.
The Government of Western Australia’s China Office supports Western Australian companies' access to trade and investment opportunities in Greater China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan.
