Western Australia is Australia’s leading exporter. In 2018, it had 42 per cent of the entire country’s merchandise exports. Minerals, including iron ore, gold, alumina and lithium, as well as petroleum made up 85 per cent of these exports.
Western Australia’s services exports – mainly comprising tourism and education‑related travel – account for eight per cent of Australia’s services exports.
