- ASEAN offers WA new economic and job-creating opportunities
The Western Australia Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Trade and Investment Dialogue: The Power of Proximity will change the way Western Australians view South-East Asia.
This event will be led by the State Government and hosted by leading think tank, the Perth USAsia Centre.
The Dialogue will commence with a dinner on Wednesday, November 14, followed by a private roundtable for delegates on Thursday, November 15 and a public seminar, for all Western Australians to attend, on Friday, November 16.
Senior government and business leaders, from Western Australia and the ASEAN region, will feature as speakers and panellists at the Friday seminar.
They will discuss how Western Australia and ASEAN can continue building a lasting economic partnership, and examine opportunities in mining, agriculture and technology.
Asian Engagement Minister Bill Johnston will also launch an Asian Engagement Strategy consultation paper, which aims to strengthen Western Australia's relationships with Asia, on Thursday (November 15).

Comments attributed to Asian Engagement Minister Bill Johnston:
"As WA's first Asian Engagement Minister, I'm looking forward to discussing how we can further broaden and enhance our economic, social and cultural partnerships between Western Australia and the ASEAN region.
"With ASEAN's growing middle-class, and increasingly urbanised populations, there is a need for Western Australia to increase its focus on ASEAN and develop a clear understanding of the economic and job-creating opportunities.
"The Dialogue was also an election commitment, which the McGowan Government has delivered."
