• The WAITTA INCITE Awards recognise and showcase the best of Western Australian ICT innovation
• All winners will go on to compete in the national iAwards later this year 

Innovation and ICT Minister Dave Kelly last night crowned WA's Achiever of the Year and congratulated other category winners at Western Australia's prestigious ICT awards - the annual WAITTA INCITE Awards and Gala Dinner.

Now in its 27th year, the WAITTA INCITE Awards honour the achievements and innovations of Western Australian businesses and ICT professionals.

Professor Yogesan Kanagasingham was named Achiever of the Year for his outstanding work for the CSIRO Australian e-Health Research Centre.  Professor Kanagasingham is an internationally recognised authority on digital health and ocular imaging, and led his research team to develop an AI system for diabetic eye disease.

The Most Effective Government Solution was awarded to the WA Police and Modis for their Investigative Actions Register.  For less than the annual cost of a police officer, this project will improve the planning and management of investigations, reducing officer time and improving outcomes for victims.

Former Deputy Premier Dr Mal Bryce was remembered for his many contributions to the Western Australian ICT industry, with the Tech Company of the Year Award now named in his honour - the award is now called the Mal Bryce Tech Company of the Year. Healthengine received this award for their online directory, which is now Australia's leading online consumer health site.

All winners and national iAward finalists will go on to compete in the national iAwards held in Melbourne later this year.
